When eleven-year-old Winny overreacts yet again to fourteen-year-old sister Lucy’s pestering, a portal is opened, sending them through time to Salem Village, 1692. Separated from her sister during their travels, Winny finds herself in prison convicted of a crime she did not commit. Unwilling to accept a fate she believes is undeserved, Winny concocts a plan to escape, but she’ll have to convince Thomas, a boy she meets in prison, that his help is necessary if both of them are to survive. What she fails to consider are the consequences to what she believes a genius plan. Through a series of encounters, the sisters realize their time travel is not a fluke—their journey is connected to another realm called Ashmikisle. Luther, creator of the isle, and Cricket, a character who speaks only through musical instruments, take on the responsibility of helping Winny and Lucy as Winny tries to succeed in her quest to fight hatred and prejudice with integrity. If she is successful, the sisters will find their way back to 2010, and they will be given opportunities they never imagined possible. If she fails, Winny and Lucy will be dead to the place they call home.
