About the Author:
I'm the 4th and youngest child of George and Mary Bulu, my parents were the first generation born in the U.S., and both respective grandparents emigrated here from the Cape Verde Islands. I grew-up in a little rural coastal town in Southeastern Massachusetts. I was mischief child who loved the outdoors (still do) but hated homework, reading and writing were difficult for me in my early school years. I was diagnosed with a mild case of dyslexia, when I entered High School; by then they had a better understanding of the learning disorder. With training and practice, I was able to overcome my dysfunction to a great degree, although my affliction was mostly a hindrance, it did give me the ability to read and troubleshoot problems in multiple directions of thought. So why write the story in the first place... I wanted to do a story about a Black Hole entering our solar system; what could we do, what would happen, how would the world's governments react, would they even tell the populous. But a story just about a Black Hole is rather boring; as soon as the story begins; you already know the ending, Black Hole wins, the end. I didn't want that, nor did I want a repeat style of what had already been done, regarding Black Holes. As a sci-fi junky, I wasn't all that impressed with the movies about the subject, up this point. No, I wanted to do something better and give it a believable tone of realism. The first thing I set-out to do was bring to life characters the readers could believe in; give them history and everyday problems that we all face. Next, come up with a story line that wasn't outlandish, or insulting to Treke' and Sci-Fi fans, so I took what was known to be true, added some science, then stretched it all a bit where needed. Incorporate a tenuous love affair that is complicated by racial divide. Add some corrupt politics: an evil sub plot regarding the future of humanity. A natural disaster beyond anything the planet has faced before. A flight in fancy through space and time, topped off with some religious overtones, for what I hope will be an enjoyable read and learning adventure, for all.
