Jeniel, a young woman from a small town in Nebraska, believes in fairy tales, a Prince Charming and happy endings. However, In her quest for superlative, she almost destroys herself and the lives of those around her. Working in the records department of a New England hospital, Jeniel finds her Prince Charming in Peter, a former gang kid from the streets of New York's Chinatown now a doctor in his final year of residency. The Songbird is their LOVE story. Add Steve, Peter's best friend and colleague into the mix of this love story, as well as wisdom from Peter's grandfather about the Songbird, and this first volume kicks off the fundamentals to a highly exciting and engaging series. ***** The Songbird is a story of love, communication, murder, mystery, danger, betrayal, suspense, honesty and dignity, and a look at life and the trials of human relationships. Author Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell has laid out The Songbird series from beginning to end, stacking one pivotal incident on top of the next. She has carefully interlocked the past, present and future in a not-so-perfect world. The Songbird navigates the reader through a maze of twists, turns and surprises while weaving it's characters and plot points together. Yet the author is able to keep the story's climax a secret until the final pages. **** A GOODREADS / Four Star Review "I was given this book by the authors husband! He is an amazing man who loved his wife very much. She poured her heart and soul into the book, and she did amazing job. I made me cry and smile all the time! I am sad I won't be able to move on to the second book for a couple of months but I know that it will be worth the wait." - Erica (Read June 16 to July 20, 2013)

About the Author:
Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell was born in East Providence, R.I. on August 31, 1942. Her father passed away when she was four and her mother passed away when she was a teenager. Beverly, an Honor student, wrote a series of short stories while attending East Providence High school in Rhode Island. The quality of her craft inspired the school to find her a scholarship, but family needs made it impossible to accept any offers. She continued to write throughout her life on various topics but never attempted to have her work published. The Songbird is a 12 year effort from the author and is presented in five volumes. Beverly Oliver married Brian B. Farrell in 1968. They were together for 39 years and were blessed with two sons Brian J. and Benjamin. Beverly's health started to diminish in 1994 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In her later years she continously battled major illnesses and pain. In the summer of 2007, Beverly suffered a massive stroke and eventually passed away November 13, 2007 in a nursing facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From Her Husband.... Beverly Louise Oliver-Farrell was never given the opportunity to show her incredible writing and storytelling gift to the world. She represents all of those with exceptional talent who are bypassed in life simply because the everyday existence of life's struggles never afforded her the opportunity to be recognized and showcased. Beverly talks about this "Conveyor Belt" of responsibility in "The Songbird" (Page 4/Volume One). To all you gifted talents out there who never get the opportunity to "jump off." This is for you. The original manuscript was handwritten in twelve five-subject notebooks over a twelve year period. I just couldn't allow such talent to be lost in a box in some attic. In Her Own Words... "In The Songbird, I try to show the importance of communication in our lives. I propose that we are all cocooned in four-sided Plexiglas cubicles. We see each other, and we faintly hear each other, so we think we are living, yet until we struggle to rise above the Plexiglas, we don't experience actual seeing and feeling in the dimension of reality. It's a bitter sweet experience filled with joys and sorrows. Those who are victorious seem to be an intelligent, sensitive and courageous people."
