Ex-prisoner of war Rev. A. W. Ishee served as a combat medic in Company L with the 42nddivision of the 232nd infantry battalion during World War II.¿¿ During the Battleof the Bulge, his company was nearly wiped out.¿Although he survived, he was captured by the Germans and thrown into aprisoner-of-war camp.¿ He has receivednumerous medals including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.Rev. Ishee,who was born in 1924, resides near Laurel, Mississippi.¿ He pastors the First Pentecostal Church ofLaurel, which he founded in 1970.¿ He andhis wife, Norma, are the parents of three daughters, two grandchildren, andthree great-grandchildren.He enjoys sharing his story withchurch congregations, family, friends, and school groups.¿¿
