Young George is suspicious when his unloving father announces that he will be a squire to King Richard III. It is not long before he finds out that he is really a hostage to guarantee his father's loyalty to the king. After one failed escape attempt, George believes his tragic fate to be sealed. He isn't counting on the heroics of his faithful servant, Robin, who shows he will do anything to protect his young master. The king's allies are not so loyal and the future of England is about to change forever. An unusual tale, based on a real medieval knight, this story is full of Terry Deary's dark humour and dry wit.

Review:
I wish there had been Horrible Histories when I was young; Terry Deary has done so much to make the past fun and accessible...we can only hope this prolific and entertaining author keeps up the good work.'', --Birmingham Post (January 2010)

''...exciting and amusing tale based on real people. Large print and lots of pictures encourage new readers onto novely size books.'', --Primary Times - Somerset (February/March 2010)

'Based on historic fact, this exciting, funny story, with big print and pen-and-wash illustrations, is the perfect bedtime read for seven-plus.'', Irish Examiner (February 2010) ''Ben [aged 6] was intrigued by the title of this book and couldn't wait to read it. Once he started he was so engrossed he read it in one go.'', Kidaround Magazine (Spring 2010) ''Terry Deary continues to make history come alive...a very effective vehicle for transporting readers back to the past and, in keeping with Deary's other stunning work, it will grab readers at an age when they might otherwise switch of from History.'', --Books for Keeps(May 2010)
