MYRA J. HIRD is Professor and Queen's National Scholar in Sociology at Queen's University, Kingston, Canada. She is author of Sociology of Science (Oxford University Press, forthcoming), The Science of Social Relating (Palgrave Macmillan, forthcoming), and Engendering Violence (Ashgate Press, 2002); co-editor of Queering the NonHuman (with Noreen Giffney, 2008), Questioning Sociology (with George Pavlich, 2006) and Sociology for the Asking (with George Pavlich, 2003); two special journal issues on science studies, and some forty articles and book chapters on gender, sexuality, and science studies. She has taught a variety of courses on social theory, epistemology, science studies, sex, gender and sexuality in five countries. She is involved in two transdisciplinary multi-member Team grants concerned with health and science studies.
