Andy's journey culminates as an officer in Iraq, where he directs air support for the Marines in Fallujah. AUTHORS: Major Andrew Hesterman enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1987. Over twenty-five years, he rose through the ranks as a pilot, instructor pilot, air officer, officer instructor, deputy air officer, and squadron executive officer. His military career spanned five presidents and four conflicts, before he retired from the USMC in 2013. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement Medals, as well as the Combat Action Ribbon.
