J'ai mis de l'ordre dans mes journées pour les rendre aussi profitables que possible; nous nous levons à cinq heures, nous déjeûnons ensemble, je la reconduis jusqu'à la porte du par terre, et je m'enferme; nous avons chacun une clef de cette porte-là. Je cours à mon atelier faire ma palette et peindre car j'ai esquissé mon tableau, et j'y travaille assidûment. A midi,ja prends, sur ma terrasse du casino, ma très - frugale collation. Je fume et lis un peu dans les livres classiques que Daniella m'apporte de la villa Taverne, Où il y a un reste de bi bliothèque dans les greniers. Quelques pages chaque jour me suffisent pour retremper ce coin du cerveau qu'il ne faut pas laisser atrophier. Les choses écrites, bonnes ou médiocres, vraies ou fausses, entretiennent toujours un lien de souvenir ou de raisonnement entre nous et ce non-moi des méta physiciens qui est encore nous, quoi qu'ils en disent. Le fais ma promenade en continuant mon cigare et mes réflexions surf ma lecture; puis, je travaille d' après nature, jusqu'au moment Où le soleil m a'vertit qu 'il faut rentrer au casino pour faire le ménage avec un soin extrême, en attendant ma Daniella.
