As regards the selection of lieut-colonel post of superintendent for the will see by the enclosed Memo confirmed lg Gazette in that post, and I cannot therefore ap rove of e selection you have made. Moreover, I should no have a proved of it even if the Gazette had not decided o erwies. Lieut-colonel is far too junior omcer to fill so important a tposition, and he has, moreover, been on your Personal Stafi' or a considerable period, which I cannot look upon as at all a desirable school for posts great experience. He can know little of musketry, he is an enthusiast for that practice, Musketry Instructor of his Ba for one andhegaveituptogoonyourstafi.
