The Order of Washington is a patriotic and chivalrous fraternity with membership limited to those whose ancestors fought for the independence of the American colonies. The author himself is a descendant of George Washington and uses his own family history to illustrate the process of tracing one's lineage back through history. Included in the book is a roster of early members of the Order, including prominent names from American history such as General Marcus J. Wright, Ethelbert Fairfax, and Dr. Edwin Allston Hill. The Order of Washington, founded to preserve the traditions of America's founding, remains active and dedicated to this purpose today.
