Excerpt from Eton Reform
A sincere jealousy for the honour of the good and liberal men with whom, and under whom, I serve, and a conscious ness of being able to save from misapprehension the true friends of the great school in which I'am employed, urged me some time back to publish a free commentary on certain publications, which were likely, if unnoticed, to give needless pain to many old Etonians, if not to inflict an injury on Eton.

The author analyzes the school's curriculum and teaching methods, advocating for the integration of modern subjects such as science and history alongside the traditional emphasis on Latin and Greek. Eton's role in shaping the character and intellect of its students is explored, drawing on the perspectives of former students and educators. Ultimately, this book offers a nuanced examination of Eton's strengths and weaknesses, advocating for a balanced approach to education that combines tradition with innovation.
