It hath been well observed - that "to treasure up memorials of the wife, the learned and the good. Is to fulfil an exalted duty to mankind." Under an impression of this sentiment, as well as from a high veneration for the memory of a most valuable friend, the writer of the following sheets ventures to present them to the public, chearfully relying on the candour of judicious readers to apologise for what some may deem defective in the history of so distinguished a character.
