This story with photos, maps and sketches recounts the daily ordeal of a small family - and that of thousands of other Rwandese refugees - who were forced from the comfort of their homes in Kigali, in the middle of the 1994 Rwandese genocide. These refugees struggled for their survival for days, weeks, months and years while they were pursued across several countries. Many were separated from their families and suffered hunger and exhaustion as they desperately sought a place of peace. Countless refugees were tortured and killed. The saga ends in 2007 when the remaining family members were granted exile in a peaceful United States. The story is told by a true survivor who - in spite of the ordeal - managed to acquire wisdom, show a sense of humor in the direst of circumstances and acquire a forgiving heart.
