III, 16, 14) führt von ihm eine Rede für die lex Fannia sumptuaria an, welche im i. 593 (161) gegeben wurde; danach würde er also mehr der früheren Periode angehören und Cicero hier nicht ganz genau sein. Aber auch Vellerns (1,17, 1. 11,9,3) nennt den Afranius, welchen Cicero als Nachahmer des Titius bezeichnet, als Zeitgenossen des Scipio, Laelius, Terentius wie des Crassus und Antonius. Allerdings fiel ihre Lebenszeit in einem gewissen Punkt zusammen, aber Angaben der Art sind sehr unbestimmt und geben für genauere chronologische Bestimmun gen keinen Anhalt. Graec. litt.
