And through knowledge of him which is the only light and the door unto the knowledge of God, ye are become fathers in the Scriptures. Or else ye bad never understood it, though ye hod studied never so much, as it appeareth by the indurate Jews, and also by our own new pharisees, which persecute the Scripture and the true sense thereof, because they are drowned in the ignorance of Christ, as their deeds and contrary living well testify. I write unto you, young men, that are strong in.suffering persecutions, and fight for your profession, mot with tlie sword, but with suffering, how that jte have overcome that wicked whioh poisoned the world at the beginning, and yet worketh in the children of darkness and unbelief: and that in believing the word of truth,? as it followeth anon after.
