Hall Gardner is Professor and Chair of the Department of International and Comparative Politics at the American University of Paris. His research brings a historical and theoretical approach to bear on global politics and concentrates on questions involving NATO and European Union enlargement, as well as the collapse of the Soviet Union and its impact on China, Eurasia, and the wider Middle East. His recent publications include The Failure to Prevent World War I (2015); NATO Expansion and US Strategy in Asia (2013); Averting Global War: Regional Challenges, Overextension, and Options for American Strategy (2007, 2010), and the edited volume, The Ashgate Research Companion to War: Origins and Prevention (2012).
