Emily Belden is a creative spitfire living, working, and playing in the city of Chicago. She started a blog 4 years ago called "Total E-Bag" and suddenly became the cool kid in school. Little did she know at the time, one of her first posts would morph into a full-length manuscript - a memoir - called Eightysixed. It is a story of a scandal and serendipity. "A comedy of misses," we like to say.

Emily Belden's memoir, Eightysixed, is a delightful story that will have you laughing and crying, sometimes at the same time. Through a series of misses and chance encounters, Eightysixed reminds us that no matter how bumpy the road is or how many detours we take, there is always an alternate route that can forever change the course of our lives.

Perhaps coined by the mob, "eightysixing" once meant taking someone out of town 80 miles and leaving them 6 feet under. Today, it's a term used by restaurants when they remove items from a menu. For Emily, it meant the things she longed for most in life were in seriously short supply.

Eightysixed is a modern take on the old-fashioned notion of finding true love in the big city. It's a humorous look at a young woman in her twenties who tries to have it all - an exciting career, a great walk-up in the 312 area code, and a guy worth loving. The problem is, she wanted to have it all at the same time. Unfortunately, that balance was most definitely eightysixed out of Emily's life, as was patience, eligible bachelors, and hope. Through a random encounter at Emily's lowest point, she is able to sift through the debris of her crumbling life to discover the life and love she always wanted.
