About the Author:

Deborah J. Johnston, RN, graduated from the Johnston-Willis School of Nursing. She later became the department head of Ambulatory Surgery and Recovery Rooms at a Richmond, Virginia hospital. In 1988, she co-founded Care Advantage, Inc. Today the multimillion-dollar company employs approximately 3,000 health care professionals from 12 satellite offices in Virginia, providing individual home health and medical staffing. Johnston's business accolades are many, as is her generosity to her local community and to national and international organizations, such as SmileTrain, for which she has a special affinity. Her story and record of philanthropic gift-giving recently attracted producers of the television series, "The Secret Millionaire." Johnston says the filming of her segment for the show brought her to a terrifying reality that can only be understood through actual experience. She felt the opportunity was one of the most rewarding of her life. When she is not busy with the operation of her company or heading up a charity event, Johnston enjoys spending time with her family and friends, to whom she is devoted. She keeps in shape with kick-boxing, health spa visits, and swimming. And, she has yet to see a beach she didn't love relaxing on.
