'Practical Antenna Design, 2nd Edition' is a complete antenna design textbook meant for technicians, engineers and scientists interested in a comprehensive guide to understanding the theory, construction practices and testing of antennas and antenna systems. Wire, patch, frequency independant, phased arrays, yagi, spirals, horns and dish antennas are described in practical detail including formulas, hints, testing and expected performance (patterns and gain). The initial chapters discuss fundamentals of antenna design including gain, beamwidth, patterns, matching, the use of simulation tools and general microwave theory. Chapters on testing follow to include Near and Far field measureing techniques, holography, photogrametry, robotic, mode stirring chambers and many other techniques. There is a chapter on interesting and unusual anteannas which include several spaceborne examples, underground, balloon based, matrix based, dielectric lens, and trailing wire examples. Finally there are a significant amount of pictures and drawings showing existing and future antenna designs.
