About the Author:

Harry Smith, b. 1936, is a graduate of Brown University. He is the author of 16 books, most recently Synesthetics/Edges of Sound (with Stanley Nelson, Birch Brook Press, 2004) & Up North (with Eric Greinke, Presa Press, 2006). Recent magazine publications include Confrontation, Iconoclast, Lilliput Review, Magazine Six, The Pedestal, Prairie Schooner, Presa, Solo Café & Wandering Hermit Review. He is known for his support of the literary arts through the non-profit Generalist Association & his publications, including The Smith & Pulpsmith. Smith is also known as an essayist & for his collaborations with other poets (i.e. Menke Katz, Stanley Nelson & Eric Greinke). He has been active in the small press scene for a half of a century, as a publisher & as a founding member & past president of COSMEP (Committee of Small Magazines, Editors & Publishers). He is the recipient of the Small Press Center’s Lifetime Achievement Award & of PEN’s Medwick Award. He lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with his wife Clare, dogs Toby & Teddy & cats Dusty & Jasper.
