Synopsis
'A Cafe in Space' Vol. 3 contains never before published correspondence between Anais Nin and her agent, Gunther Stuhlmann, revealing the degree to which her writing career had languished during the 1940s and 1950s. The letters affirm it was Stuhlmann's relentless efforts that were responsible for laying the groundwork for her eventual success and fame. Also included are essays about Nin's work, and also about her contemporaries, Lawrence Durrell and Henry Miller. This issue also contains book and other media reviews, poetry, and photographs.

About the Author
Anais Nin (1903-1977) was author of 'The Diary of Anais Nin', 'Delta of Venus', 'Little Birds', 'Henry and June', 'House of Incest', 'A Spy in the House of Love', among many other titles. Born in Paris, France, Nin and her family immigrated to New York and grew up there. After meeting Henry Miller when she returned to Paris, she became his voracious lover and supporter, and her diary writing bloomed. After decades of obscurity, she became famous upon the release of her diary covering her years with Miller and other famous figures. Her erotica ('Delta' and 'Birds') became bestsellers shortly after her death. 'Henry and June' was the subject of the movie of the same title, directed by Philip Kaufman in 1990.
