John Robbins, in the book’s Foreword, describes Dining With Friends: “If you’re like most people, you want the food you prepare to be healthful, delicious, attractive to others, and well worth the effort you put into its preparation. And if so, then Dining with Friends is just the cookbook for you. It’s full of recipes that are indeed healthful, delicious, aesthetically pleasing, and sure to delight friends or family with wonderful memories for years to come. But what’s more, these excellent recipes are made entirely from plant foods. There are no animal products found anywhere in these pages. And so you can prepare and serve these recipes, comfortable and happy in the knowing that you have in your hand the key to bringing your meals into alignment with your sense of compassion. I think that’s a very special thing, in a society that by and large has forgotten that until we extend our circle of compassion, we are not ourselves fully human. By dining with friends, we can also be friends of animals.” John Robbins is the author of several internationally acclaimed books, including The Food Revolution and May All Be Fed: Diet For A New World. The recipient of the 1994 Rachel Carson Award, and an eloquent spokesperson for a sustainable human future, John Robbins has received standing ovations at thousands of conferences and speaking engagements held by organizations worldwide, including the United Nations.
