About the Author:
Stanley Tookie Williams was a death-row prisoner who became an anti-gang activist, dedicating his life to ending gang warfare. His books for children - and other peacemaker work - earned him five Nobel Peace Prize nominations and four Nobel Prize nominations for Literature. On December 13, 2005, he was executed in the death chamber at San Quentin State Prison, but his books continue to inspire hope around the world.
Review:
Tookie learned the hard way that belonging to a gang is not smart. I salute him for his courage and determination to overcome his circumstances. --Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
