Book Description Card Cover. Occasional Paper No. 12. The new railway line between Lethbridge Junction and Fort Macleod was built in 1897-98. It was 37 miles long and included the construction of 20 wooden bridges. By 1904 they were in a bad state of repair. During the summers of 1904/1905 survey parties were exploring an alternate route to Macleod. In 1906 the news broke that the CPR would be building a steel bridge, "which will be one of the wonders of the world." The new bridge would be about one mile long and 300 feet high. This book documents in word and picture the construction of this bridge. Illustrated card cover with staple binding, many black and white photographs, 40 pages. Light shelf wear with a few light creases and pressure marks, a few light spots of discoloration, inside clean and tight.
