This book features work by ten contemporary American artists (Virginia Dotson, Dennis Elliott, David Ellsworth, Michelle Holzapfel, Robyn Horn, Todd Hoyer, Rodger Jacobs, Ron Kent, Stoney Lamar, Merryll Saylan) who are making significant contributions to the field of lathe-turning. The selected artists use the lathe to create traditional vessel forms and sculptural objects that are sometimes defined by the process and materials, and sometimes freed from these origins by visual appearance and theoretical underpinnings. This project represents a major contribution to the scholarship of contemporary American art and craft.
