anift in the Meafuring of Land, to be well acquainted
with arhhmetic, as being the ground ..

pr.in~ipal rules thereof, viz. !Vumtrotion, Addition,
Subtr(J[1i~n, Multiplication, 'and Divijion: which,
fuppofing every Pedon that applies himfdf to [he
ftudy-of this art to be flcilled in; or if not, refer~
ng ,him to Books or Mailers (every where to be
fou'nd) 'to learn: liliaH name a fixth rule, as necefrary
(if not more) to be underfiood by the learner;
