An entertaining Cookbook from Venetians and Venetian residents who are members of the SETTEMARI Association, which is a cultural group who are also a rowing club, rowing in the Venetian style, ie like gondoliers, "standing up and looking forward". The recipes are written in English and Italian (some are even in the Venetian dialect). The recipes vary from a recipe for 2 people to a recipe for 100/120 people! Naturally you need to adjust the quantities. Usually however the recipes are for four people. No pictures of the dishes are allowed, only images of members eating, rowing or of the city of Venice itself. Most of the recipes are from Venice and the Veneto, although there are a few from Pavia (where the Settemari are twinned with a rowing club) and a few from other parts of the world as there are Venetian residents from abroad in the Settemari. Included are classic Venetian dishes like Castradina (salted, cured mutton) for the festival of the Salute in November, Anatra Ripiena (Stuffed Duck) for the Redentore in July and Pasta e Fagioli (Bean & Pasta soup) for the regatas in the cold winter months. It has been a very popular book for both Venetians and visitors to the City. We hope you enjoy it too.
