About the Author:
Leon Majaro was born in Odessa but moved to Palestine in 1918 following the Russian Revolution. He married Hannah Rokach, the daughter of the eminent local leader, Shimon Rokach. Over the years, he collated her stories of the Rokach family and recorded them in this book.

The Rokach family, which moved to Palestine in the early 19th Century, were among the leaders of the Jewish community through the turbulent years of Turkish rule and the First World War. These stories are a very personal record of these times, recorded by Leon Majaro, the husband of Hannah Rokach.
