Review:
I'm really looking forward to using "Le monde en français" with my IB classes next year. I especially appreciate how the book manages to provide directed practice for the IB exam along with stimulating readings and discussion questions. I've been teaching IB French for over 10 years now, and this is the first time that I'm really excited about a textbook for the course! I really love the book! --Lisa Alizadeh, IB French Teacher, San Clemente High School, USA
"Le monde en français" is clear and thorough. It addresses both the core topics and the options and gives excellent overall coverage. The two suggested 'parcours' in the introduction are very helpful to see what work is suitable for first year students. I like the numerous illustrations. Excellent resources, as with "Bien Lire, Bien Ecrire". --Deborah Hicks, Exeter College
The structure of this textbook is coherent and the content comprehensive. It is very skill based with useful mention of exam techniques. In my role of Head of French, I personally find the reference to Cas and ToK most relevant, allowing me to gain time in structuring my scheme of work. The activities are varied and relevant, and the length and difficulty of texts are achievable as well as a good preparation for exams. I do very much like the "grown up" aspect of it all, looking like a university manual. I am looking forward to using this textbook with my students and strongly believe it will help me plan and deliver the course to an excellent standard. --Sophie Jobson, Head of French - Wellington College
Book Description:
This coursebook prepares students thoroughly for the 2011 French Language B syllabus. It has an international approach, offering authentic texts from a variety of francophone countries. The texts and topics have been chosen because of their intrinsic interest to young people, and to enable students to develop a genuine intercultural understanding. The exercises are carefully designed to develop students' linguistic abilities while at the same time encouraging them to develop critical thinking skills and allowing them the opportunity to interact personally with the material.
