Dire doings in the Vicarage! A Load Of Old Bones takes us on a nostalgic romp into a 1950s mythical Surrey, where murky deeds and shady chracters abound and where even the animal population is distinctly bizarre! All the Reverend Francis Oughterard had ever wanted was an easy life and a bit of peace and quiet: instead he is entangled in a nightmare scenario of predatory ladies, officious policemen, odd-ball clerics, wrathful parishioners, and a wayward cat. Whether the Reverend retains his sanity or deserves our sympathy is for the reader to decide . . .

Review:
I think this is tremendous - amusing and professional. (Dame Beryl Bainbridge)

An intriguingly quirky read! And Maurice the cat is a very clever puss indeed! (Leslie Phillips OBE)

A Load of Old Bones is a fun cosy with a couple of twists which make it quite unusual. (Euro Crime)
From the Publisher:
The tale is told in the first person, largely by the vicar himself but there are also contributions from his cat (Maurice)and his dog(Bouncer. Being dependent on the vicar for their welfare, it is in their interests to protect him from exposure; and thus some of the narrative comprises their views and dicussion of the situation. They have an amicable but wary relationship - each thinking the other absurd. Their attitude to their master, the vicar, is one of quizzical, kindly indulgence. The book is aimed at those over 45 (?),cat and dog lovers, and those clergy with a warped/childish sense of humour.
