A homeless woman turns up in Mid Wales with a rucksack, a nagging idea that she has lost something or someone, and the vague intention to get to Cadair Idris. On the way she encounters nothing but kindness as the local people peel back the layers of obsessive compulsive disorders to reveal an extraordinarily brave and optimistic alliance of Rastamen and Tetra mast protestors who are pitting their wits against the secret technology of an authoritarian state. The denoument rings gob-smackingly true and the reader (or "eavesdropper" as the bag lady insists) is left reeling on the sharp edge between fact and "fiction" never to see the world in quite the same way again. This is a multi-layered novel of ideas presented as a sound-track which can be read as a shamanic journey, a quest for political enlightenment, a Pinteresque "psychological drama", a post-Freudian parable, and a sharp critique of Blair's Britain.
