Pp. Condition: Sehr gut. 56 Seiten, zahlr. Abb. Sehr gutes Exemplar. / Very good copy. - Incl. a foldable poster (see image). / for over a decade Diana Thater has been transforming architectural spaces through video installation, drawing together images from nature with new technology to create challenging environments for her viewers. The development of her oeuvre places her among the most significant artists of her generation, and Haunch of Venison is thrilled to be holding her first solo exhibition in London. In this exhibition Thater has conjoined four new works through the different levels of the galleries, evoking a fragmented landscape full of shifting scales and perspectives. With the ground floor piece, A Series of Events (Alex Theater), Diana Thater shows a film on two monitors of the poem-like text she displays on a typical old-fashioned Hollywood marquee, demonstrating her relationship with indices and with cinema. On the next floor, in Pink Daisies, Amber Room, gigantic daisies dwarf the viewer, the colours contrasting vividly with the top floor's White is the Color, in which two white clouds are projected de-naturalised and artificial overhead. The final room glows blue, in which the work Dark Matter includes scientific animations of outer space exposed on flat-screen monitors that have been laid on the floor. Once again the viewer must reconsider and adjust their perceptions. The text in this catalogue, comprised of a conversation between Diana Thater and our Exhibitions Director, Christiane Schneider, concentrates on the work in our present exhibition, whilst exploring some of the greater themes and concerns prevalent in Diana Thater's art. Indeed the structure of the conversation follows the structure of the show, beginning and ending with stars of two different sorts. We are indebted to Diana Thater, not only for making this complex and beautiful show, but for the great energy and wit she used to bring much merriment to Haunch of Venison."
