Sword fighting is an exciting, physically and mentally demanding sport that gives both sexes the challenge of combat in complete safety. Once mastered a lifetime of sports pleasure is open to the practitioner, irrespective of age or when first introduced to the sport. Fencing can truly be a sport for life.
This book sets out a curriculum of study for the student. Each item is presented in the best order to develop a complete and thorough understanding of Epee fencing whilst building a simple stage by stage strategy for practice.
The aim is to convert the reader into a practising Epee fencer in only a few days. For them to be able to enjoy the rough and tumble of one-to-one combat and the stimulation of mind and body so essential to sword play.
The Epee or duelling sword is in my view the premier weapon of fencing. The rules of the game are unencumbered by false over-complicated conventions.
This book is proudly about Epee fencing only, with no reference to other disciplines.

Throughout the book I have placed boxes for the student to place a tick only when that item is clearly understood. This book can be used as a coaching aid. It is structured to form the basis for course work. Also if students miss part of the course they can easily refer back and catch up.
This practical manual compresses much into a few pages. The illustrations will, I hope, clarify understanding, aid enjoyment and make an Epee fencer of you.
