Pigeon in the press
"a novel solution... for communicating with folk from other lands" The Guardian
"ditch cumbersome dictionaries and phrase books" The Independent on Sunday
"such a good idea" The London Evening Standard
"tidy and childproof...worth the price" The Observer
"worry no longer... about the embarrassing language barrier... with Pigeon cards you will be able to give a friendly chirp, with minimum effort" The Express
"real face-savers to a non-linguist...making communication a great deal more comfortable than a phrase book" Books in the Media
Phrase books can be bulky, difficult and slow to use, with a phonetic spelling system that is rarely understood. Pigeon cards are discreet - they look like postcards - and contain most of the words and phrases a typical holiday-maker might need when out and about.
What makes Pigeon cards unique is the way you use them. Instead of looking up complete sentences via an index through subjects to a situation, you tailor make your own phrases using the words on the cards. A typical sentence could be made up from just a few elements eg:
"Can I have... coffee... with milk?"
Begin with "hello" and end with "please" and you’ve placed your order before your companion has found the right page in their phrase book. With only three Pigeon cards you can order drinks, make sense of a menu, and find your way around the shops.
Available in Spanish, Italian and French.
