The novel is set in Elizabethan times in Cornwall. Rona Laity is young and beautiful. She is the heiress to her father's land and mineral rights on the north coast of the Penwith Hundred. When her neighbour, the covetous Squire Tranthem, greedy for the land, murders her father, she escapes. But as night falls she is soon alone and lost on the moor at Land's End. In a rising gale she struggles southwards. Now she must fend for herself in all of life's coming storms. This is a tale evocative of old England under the first Elizabeth, it's treacheries and dangers, beauties and rewards it is a romance in an extravagant time, in extravagantly beautiful places. It is full of poetry. This book is the result of many years research which the author completed while she was living in Cornwall.
