Searching for a reason for his affection for high latitudes and cold, empty places, this became the basis for an intensive photographic study. It is difficult to establish for certain as to what qualifies as the North. Phil ultimately decided to explore the areas between the latitudes of 59 to 70 degrees. His journey has taken him from Shetland to Northern Norway, from Scandinavia to Canada and beyond to Alaska.
