Cross Sections, Catherine Wagner's first book since Art and Science: Investigating Matter (1996), features new work completed between 1998 and 2001. With a Visual Artist Fellowship grant from the San Jose Museum of Art, Wagner began making photographic images using MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) technology to create a new body of work that explores both the unique individuality of common objects and their transcendental qualities.

About the Author:
Poet Catherine Wagner was born to military parents in Burma and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Wagner is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the University of Iowa Writer's Workshop, and the University of Utah's Ph.D in Literature program. She is Assistant Professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
