Join us, beer in hand, as we look at the history of drinking and brewing through a beer glass. Filled with facts, lore and trivia - all beer related we designed the book in a dictionary format that you could enjoy with your favorite cold one, or read in short segments.
Writing it was a labor of love and we were surprised and pleased when the North American Guild of Beer Writers named it the Beer Book of the year in 1998! Considering all the other great beer writing around it was a great thrill.
There are several paths you can walk along our beer guided journey. You can read the entries straight through, or concentrate on a specific subject. For example, you might choose to look up each of the short essays on beer styles. In each we look at what makes a pilsner, or porter, or Belgian beer unique. In each we discuss both the historical and current state of the style, however, we don't tell you what to drink, our beer motto has always been to drink what you like!!!!
Another path through the book could take you through various beer drinking vessels, from the early days of wooden bowls and leather "jacks" to modern glassware. Or perhaps you'd like to whip up a beer based mixed drink, and sip beers in the same way American colonials enjoyed there's.
