I have been drawing seriously since the age of five. Trained at Chouinard Art Institute in the fifties, I then worked in the animation business in Hollywood and the Bay Area drawing lots of bunnies and other fanciful creatures. But being most interested in the human figure and head, I have drawn from the model ever since art school, wherever I was. I'm retired now, being a somewhat elderly person (although very spry!), and spend my time drawing, painting privately, hanging out, and doing Balkan folk-dances as often as I can. I hope you can begin to see what I see: the mystery, the miracle, the complexity of the human body. And maybe you'll also be able to see what joy I find in the pull of my graphite across and along a form. Drawing has become a metaphor for my life: seeing without judging, accepting what's there without question, being open to the wonderful (and sometimes not so wonderful!) accidents that happen when I am devotedly and scrupulously honest.
