About the Author:
Justin O'Brien, Ph.D. (Swami Jaidev Bharati) is a theologian, philosopher, lecturer, and long-time explorer in human consciousness. This former monk studied theology for years in Israel, Jordan, the Netherlands, and the States. As Professor of Theology at Loyola University of Chicago he became a major lecturer in the U.S, with groundbreaking concepts and vision only recently begun to be matched by others. In 1972 he became a disciple of Swami Rama of the Himalayas and was asked to teach yoga. He helped establish the Himalayan International Institute and its graduate school, lived with the saint in the U.S., Nepal, and India, and led conferences on spirituality and wellness in England, Japan, Nepal, and the United States. He holds a Doctoral degree in the Philosophy of Consciousness, a Post Doctoral in Theology from Nijmegen University in the Netherlands, an M.A. in Theology from Marquette, an M.A. and B.A. in Philosophy from St. Albert’s, Oakland, and a B.A. in the Classics from Notre Dame. Past Senior Research Fellow in Holistic Medicine at the University of London Medical School and an Ericksonian hypnotherapist, he now teaches wellness and spirituality to corporate leaders, counsels students, and is core faculty of the Institute of the Himalayan Tradition in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He took vows of renunciation on the bank of the Ganges in India in 1999.
