Barbaranne Boyer was born in St. Helen's, England and came to Canada at an early age with her English mother and Canadian father. The family first settled in Toronto's Parkdale district and moved to the beach in 1956. For several years Barbaranne operated a small sheep farm near Eldorado, Ontario and it was here that she developed an interest in local history and pen and ink drawings of old buildings.
