About the Author
Hans Christian Andersen (1805 1875) was a Danish author and poet best known for his fairy tales. Among his most well known stories are "The Snow Queen," "The Little Mermaid," "The Emperor's New Clothes," and "The Ugly Duckling." During Andersen's lifetime, he was feted by Royalty and acclaimed for bringing joy to children throughout Europe. His fairy tales have been translated into more than a hundred languages and continue to be published in millions of copies all over the world.

Owner's Christmas inscription to the end paper, no other markings, the covers are slightly boed, thus Good used copy in Fair dust jacket with a tear across the spine and with small chips and fine creases to the edges of the dut acket. DJ is in mylar sleeve. Red cloth, 192pp. The Dulac illussttrations are reproduced to a 20 x 15 cm size. 16 coour ilus inlcusing the frontispiece. All the illustration are present and in excellent condition. There are seven stories including The Snow Queen, The Nightingale, The Emperor's New Clothes.and the Garden of Paradise. This book originally appeared in 1911 and was on of the Hodder & Stoughton illustrated gift books that they produced every year starting around 1907 when The Arabian Nights was published.
