The human aura has been a significant component of Vedanta literature for over five thousand years. Information and experience concerning the human Aura starts us on the path toward the practical application of all the mystical arts. Twenty five years ago, science was skeptical of any claims made by Theosophists or Transcendentalists who believed they saw Auras and could use these colorful manifestations to judge a person’s overall health or a person’s mental temperament – anger, love, passion, etc. Today, science has changed its stance on Auras and many other paranormal phenomena. Scientists may have found the underlying energy responsible for manifesting Auras. Swami Panchadasi elegantly states, “The fundamental substance of which the human aura is composed is none other than that wonderful principle of nature of which one reads so much in all occult writings, which has been called by many names, but which is perhaps best known under the Sanskrit term, Prana, but which may be thought of as Vital Essence, Life Power, etc." In the United States, this force of nature has been coined Subtle Energy. Like a chameleon changing colors, Prana has many names in many distant cultures through-out many eras. In China it is called Chi. Flowing Subtle Energy is called “mana” by the Polynesians and “orendo” by the Iroquia. The great Sioux Nation calls this life giving force “wakonda” while in North Africa it is called “baraka”. So, the energy manifesting our Auras is a universal phenomenon. Until recently, scientists were skeptical of people who claimed to see auras or taught others this magical skill. Within the last five years or so, physicists have discovered the God particle and completed their work on the Standard Model. They are now focusing their attention on what is called dark energy. They have rebuilt the Large Hadron Collider in the hope that they will find a new energy – a fifth force of nature called Prana. You and I will know that they will only have rediscovered an ancient life supporting energy source that is known by many names in many cultures.
