This is a story of valour under fire. As a 17-year-old soldier in Vietnam, Randy Herrod fought in a platoon known as "Blue's Bastards", named after combat leader "Blue", Marine Lieutenant Oliver North. During a fight North, who always led from the front, was wounded. Herrod rescued him, dragging him to safety. Shortly thereafter, after North was posted back to the United States, Herrod was court-martialed and sentenced to death for his role in killing civilians in a Vietnamese village suspected of harbouring the Viet Cong. North, after reading about the case, decided to fly back to Vietnam to launch his own investigation. He succeeded in proving Herrod innocent.
