Painting Pictures with words and illustrations
When I first wrote the words for A Mountain Alphabet, I tried to capture the essence of living in the mountains, but words cannot describe their magic. I was very happy to find Andrew Kiss, whose art work allows children, who have never been to the mountains, to see what it's like. We had much fun hiding letters in each picture. I do many slideshows with the artwork from this book in schools and kids of all ages love trying to find those hidden letters! I hope that it stimulates kids to read more books and that it helps teachers to use real books in the classroom.
