About the Author
Mike Molenda A seminal member of the San Francisco punk/new wave community in the mid 1970s, Molenda is listed in Who's Who in California Rock for his band Silhouette and as a solo artist. Molenda's compositions and productions have appeared in the Michael Douglas film The Game, on TV's Spin City, a 2003 PBS documentary on the Indian occupation of Alcatraz. In 1998, Molenda became editor in chief of Guitar Player, and helped increase the magazine's circulation from 128,000 to 150,000 (including a subscriber base of more than 117,000 - the largest of any gear magazine at any time) in a tough and competitive marketplace. Foreword by Les Paul. Les Paul not only established himself as a rock-n-roll icon, but assured his immortality with the development of the solidbody electric guitar. A popular guitar player of the 1940's, Paul focused his talents on both music performance and electronic design. Today Gibson makes eight different versions of the solidbody, ranging from the Les Paul Standard to the Les Paul Melody Maker.
