Takeshi Ishida is professor emeritus of political science at the Institute of Social Science, University of Tokyo. He has been a visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin, the University of Arizona, St. Antony's College (Oxford), and El Colegio de MExico, and a research associate at Harvard University. He is the author of Japanese Society (1971) and has published numerous books and articles on postwar Japan and comparative politics in English, Japanese, and French.
