About the Author:

ABRAM L. SACHAR was Chancellor Emeritus of Brandeis University until his death in July 1993 at the age of 95. One of the pioneers of the Hillel Foundation, he also wrote The Course of Our Times (1972) and the best-selling A History of the Jews (1930).
