About the Author:

Spencer C. Tucker is professor of history and holder of the John Biggs Chair in Military History at the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia. He served as a captain in Army Intelligence during 1965-1967 and was professor of history at Texas Christian University from 1967-1997. Tucker is author or editor of eleven books on military or naval history. Among other works, he is the editor of the ABC-CLIO's award-winning Encyclopedia of the Vietnam War.
