About the Author

Jonathan Chester is one of the world's leading polar adventurers and photographers. His images have been exhibited throughout the world, and he has co-produced a television documentary, "The Last Husky," for the Australian ABC and National Geographic Explorer. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, he works as a naturalist and historian on polar tourist cruises and has been lecturing on adventure, the Antarctic, the Himalaya, and photography for over fifteen years. His previous books include Antarctica: Beauty in the Extreme, The Outdoor Companion (co-authored with Quentin Chester), and The Himalayan Experience: An Introduction to Trekking and Climbing in the Himalayas. He makes his home in Berkeley, California.
